A Steering Wheel on a Zero Turn? Cub Cadet RZT S Riders

The Cub Cadet RZT S Rider is a zero-turn mower with a cutting system designed by aerospace engineers, and it’s design, performance and features reflect this fact. It is equipped with a 42 to 50 inch mowing deck with a a floating deck, optimal airflow, and blade overlap, as well as a 22 to 25 horsepower engine. It also has a pivoting front axle that enables the mower to deliver a professional cut by following the contours of the ground.

Zero-turn performance is delivered through the control of all four wheels via a steering wheel, which provides increased stability over even the harshest of terrains. The front wheels are synced with the dual hydrostatic rear-wheel transmission, which creates zero-turn performance with the simple control of the steering wheel. This enables the RZT S Rider to deliver increased performance and user friendliness.

The benefits of the RZT S Rider:

  • Better ergonomics that enables drivers to deliver a professional grade cut with comfort and pleasure.
  • With three overlapping blades and optimal air flow, the heavy-duty professional steel cutting deck can cut through even the harshest terrains with ease.
  • Increased maneuverability and stability on any terrain is delivered by the rear mounted engine, low center of gravity, and all wheel directional steering.

The use of a steering wheel for a zero-turn mower is rare. The majority of zero-turn mowers utilize lap bar technology to control the direction and speed of the mower. With a lap bar system, the front wheels are floating wheels that are not actually directly controlled by the driver. This can lead to a loss of traction and stability when turning. The zero turn steering wheel and pedals synchronize all four wheels to work together to control the direction and speed of the mower, while also providing increased traction and stability.
