Volunteer 4×4 EFI

Looking for a utility vehicle that can do it all? The Cub Cadet Volunteer 4×4 EFI combines a fuel injected engine, advanced four-wheel drive system and a wide assortment of accessories to make it the perfect machine for a wide range of jobs from plowing snow to towing small equipment.

Power

The Volunteer uses a Kohler Aegis LH775 liquid-cooled V-Twin producing 31 hp and 47.7 ft-lbs of torque. It uses an electronic fuel injection system developed in cooperation with Bosch to match the performance and durability of automotive systems. It also has a full pressure oiling system with a filter and a heavy duty air filter with double the surface area of its competitors. These design features let the engine produce reliable power in a range of conditions and reduce the amount of maintenance required to keep it running.

This engine sends power to both axles via an enclosed CVT, letting the engine stay at peak power regardless of speed. The transmission is geared for a top speed of 25 mph, and it has a low mode for crawling over rough terrain.

Traction and Handling

The front axle uses a Hilliard centralized differential. This diff can be engaged on the fly, acting like a locking differential when moving in a straight line and like an open differential when making turns. The rear axle uses a mechanical differential that can be locked for more traction.

The Volunteer comes with 26-inch off road tires mounted to 12-inch wheels. The suspension is fully independent front and back, and uses adjustable coil-overs that allow up to 8 inches of suspension travel. Ground clearance is 11 inches, and the turning circle is 11 feet.

Steel braided brake lines link the pedal to 8-inch hydraulically-operated disc brakes on each wheel.

Towing and Hauling

The Volunteer’s bed is a steel box measuring 51.6 x 42 x 11.5 inches. It’s designed to handle a payload of up to 1,000 lbs. There’s also under-seat storage and a glove box in the interior. Total payload capacity including the bed, operator, passenger and towed objects is 1,400 lbs. It comes with a receiver for a Class 1 towing hitch.

Dimensions

The Volunteer has a 78-inch wheelbase and is 119 inches long, 63.55 inches wide and 73 inches tall. Total weight without accessories is around 1,650 lbs. That means it will fit on most 6 foot-wide utility trailers.
